January 2020 Pending Home Sales

In January 2020, The National Association of Realtors® the pending home sales index increased by 5.2% to 108.8. Lawrence Yun, NAR’s chief economist stated, “This month’s solid activity – the second-highest monthly figure in over two years – is due to the good economic backdrop and exceptionally low mortgage rates.”

Year after year, home sales have continued to increase by 5.7%. Although the year started out with strong activity, there is still a lack of inventory. To maintain future increases inventory will remain important.
